Photo of the Day: Albuquerque

Recently, I made a trip to Albuquerque, New Mexico. The landscape throughout the area seemed to change everywhere I went, which was crazy impressive! I'll post some of the photos I took for you to see.   Some areas of Albuquerque offered amazing views of the rest of the city and the mountains.   Albuquerque used to be (and, in some ways, still is) a bustling train hub. Some of the old train yards are no longer used as a main hub, so now "The Yards" employs itself as a cool spot for ...

Me and my costumes, part 3

The Gypsy You've seen my Idolette look and my Egyptian costume. Now, I'll tell you about my gypsy outfit. This costume is based on the "fortune-teller" Arthur meets in The Minotaur Riddle. She's called "gypsy" in the book because that's the name popularly used and what kids would understand. However, she would actually refer to herself as Roma. Photo of the Day: Birds of a Feather

I live near the US Air Force Academy, and they frequently do some pretty awesome stuff for the public. Last weekend a few of the cadets brought their mascot birds out to my local library for a demonstration. One bird [pictured above] was a peregrine falcon, which—as Penelope Riffert would tell you!—is the fastest bird in the world. The other bird was a gyrfalcon. The gyrfalcon [pictured above and below] is not only the largest falcon, but it also happens to be the type of bird featured ...

Make a Square Base 3D Pyramid

Here's a fun craft that doesn't take too long, and you can decorate it however you like when you're done! 1. Start with a piece of square origami paper on the table in front of you, colored side up. (Or use other lightweight paper in your choice of color/design.) Fold one edge to the other horizontally, crease, and unfold. Then make the vertical edge-to-edge fold, crease, and unfold.   2. Flip the paper over and fold one corner of the paper up to the opposite corner, creasing it on the ...
